Good to see Fred Kaad still soldiering on. Well done!

He used to give us ASOPA trainees talks on Friday mornings i seem to recall.
Would welcome questions from us wannabees about any aspect of life in out stations etc of PNG.
What to wear or not to wear - underpants or not was one query to him.
Footwear another.

Yesterday quite a few ANZAC ceremonies in UK with royals in lead slots.
Prince of Wales reminding his hearers that Australia saw 20% of its volunteer force never returning.
What a sacrifice! Imagine total population in 1914 would be less than million.
Britain certainly needed its Empire to rally round, which they did.

Just read 'A Christian in Khaki' by Jonathon Greaves that is an unedited version of his great grandfathers' WW1 diary. Quite revealing of early 20th century views on that war and its soldiery, that included Oz soldiers being responsible for price inflation in Mid-East campaign. Apparently better paid than Tommy.

Terrible that hundred years later the region is in such a God-damned mess.

Taskul and Cardiff
